Glasgow Reviewed; The Rainbow Rooms George Square

January is usually a hot mess of a month for me- a few extra lbs in quality street around my middle, some serious eye bags from countless late nights, and not to mention the ravaged skin from the copious bottles of wine. This year was no exception and I was in desperate need of a  fresh start for 2014, so aside from the usual vows to quit the drink, hit the gym and dedicate myself to learning meditation- I was actually lucky enough to be offered the chance for a real change by the lovely guys at the Rainbow Rooms in George Square, and I was super excited  to get in there and give it a whirl.

Armed with a hideously embarrassing amount of inspiration photos ( I am terrible at describing what I mean!) I met with Courtney who not only did not laugh right in my face but actually understood what I was trying to get at. She was amazing at taking time to get on board with my vision, answering my questions on colours and cuts and how to adapt what I wanted to my face shape. I have always felt really flustered sitting down in a salon ( especially when taking inspiration photos with me) as so many times stylists haven't actually listened or just made assumptions and just gone ahead to do what they want to do anyway- which makes for a terrible  experience.

Rainbow Rooms George Square was a totally different affair however, once we had settled on the plan I was given a superb in-chair shiatsu massage which was the perfect start to get me in the mood for some pampering.  Courtney made me feel important throughout and wanted me to leave the salon feeling amazing and with something I was thrilled with. I had complete trust in her and had no regrets as she whipped a good few inches of my hair off to reveal a shorter and much more chic cut than what I have had for the past few years. It was then time for the colour, as upkeep is an issue to me we decided upon a semi permanent colour which leaves the hair exceptionally glossy and should fade away evenly and make maintenance easy. She applied bleach to the ends to give me a natural looking ombre effect as she really listened to how I wear my hair day to day ( messy and undone) and the colour would sit well when styled that way.

Before....
When the time came to rinse out the colour I was SO excited to see how it had come together, and I was right to be, as if I do say so myself- it looked fab! It was so different from the samey hair I had for so long it was just what I needed to kick the year off with a bang. Courtney tousled it up with straighteners and gave me the volume I am always after while explaining to me how to maintain it myself at home. I was just so excited with the finished product and so happy with what she had done, she made me feel special from start to finish and did such an excellent job, I truly felt a million bucks.

After!
I was impressed from the second I walked into Rainbow Rooms George Square, the staff who were at reception ( shout out to the absolutely delightful Marc) made me feel so relaxed and comfortable and made sure I was in a chair relaxing with a magazine and a coffee within minutes! The salon is spacious, sleek and modern without feeling intimidating. Everyone is incredibly friendly and welcoming so it makes for such a good salon experience that is well worth checking out for your next new do!

Didn't she do an amazing job?  Thank you so much to the lovely team at the Rainbow Rooms in George Square for such a fab makeover! To book in for your own transformation you can ring the salon on 0141 226 3451 or book online here  ( and enjoy a £5 discount for doing so!)
