Lucas Paw Paw Ointment

Now if you read my recent Bepanthen post you will know I am on the hunt for things that can help soothe my totally chapped, flaky lined lips. Now I am still in love with Bepanthen, for its price and for what it it is doing for my lips. I slick it on at night and in the morning but it is not perfect- carting a tube of nappy rash cream around is a slightly strange and not ads compact as say a little tin of vaseline. In addition it is not something I can just whip on in public as when laid on thick it can leave some white all over my lips- soothing but not sexy! So my next endeavour for a kissable pout it Lucas Paw Paw ointment.

Over the past couple of years I have heard this Australian brand uttered various times, by make up artists I have worked with on shoots, by celebrities in magazines and by others on the Internet. But although I have always been intrigued It has never gone farther, until now. Just before Christmas I ordered my first ever famous red tube and have been using it religiously ever since.

What they say:

A local topical application for boils, burns, chaffing, cuts, cracked skin, gravel rash, splinters, open wounds, insect bites and nappy rash - relieving and cleansing.Made from Papaya ( paw paw) it is  is rich in vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, B6 and C, and minerals including calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus and potassium.

What the papers say:

Annabel Jones, Beauty Editor of Grazia:   "I couldn't live without this product. Its the best multi purpose product in my make up bag. A great lip balm, its good for everything from dry skin, chapped lips and even nappy rash"

Alexa Chung details 5 items in her make-up bag. Lucas' Papaw Ointment from pawpawshop.co.uk, "My lips are constantly dry, so I never go anywhere without a good balm. This is by far the best - believe me, I've tried them all".

What I say:

I am really taken with this stuff. For years I have been carting around a small tube of notorious Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream as I like to have a do- all balm on me at all times. Now the thing with 8 hour cream- and I know it is blaspheming to so many is that I HATE the smell and taste of it. I know so many grow to not mind it but I must have been carrying this same small tube for 4 or so years ( gross but true) and I have never become accustomed to it.

I'm afraid my 8 hour really has been trounced by this much cheaper, colourless and almost smell and taste free tube. A I have been using this on my mega dry nose, dry patches on my legs, on my disgraceful dry cuticles and on other random day to day scratches and it has performed amazingly. I think the tube style is so handy for carrying around. I purchased mine from here for a bargain £3.90 and can totally recommend it as a handbag must have.

Any one else out there fallen for this Aussie wonder?

PS if any one buys this and is silly like me, there is a triangular shaped nib you have to break off to get the balm out, I chewed, pulled and eventually ripped it off with scissors- if you look on the lid there is a triangle you slot it into to SMOOTHLY take it off.....Oooops.

  1. Might try this - I agree with you on the 8 hour cream, it really does smell bad! I don't like it on my lips but I think it works wonders if my forehead's a bit flaky. I usually stick with carmex for lips x

  2. I totally agree about 8hr cream, I can't get use to it either. I really want to give this ago

  3. That sounds great and perfect for winter!

  4. I've been thinking about getting this...my lips get sooo bad in the winter and I feel like I've tried everything!

  5. ahhhh I LOVE this stuff! Got slightly too into it in Vietnam, delighted you found a site to order from!

  6. Hi - you can get it on Amazon.Co.UK as

    Good Luck
