I cannot get enough of events where you get to learn something new or the chance to bend a professionals ear for a while, so a recent evening with the team from GlamCandy makeup school was a perfect way to kick off December. Up until now the school has been running classes in Aberdeen and Edinburgh but lucky for us Glaswegians they are bringing their talents right into our city centre. Based in the incredibly gorgeous Pappillion hair studio on West George street this is the perfect bright and spacious salon to head along and enjoy a masterclass or course.
Managing Director Hayley talked us through the brand which was born through her previous experience of handling a modeling agency and realising there was an opportunity to offer make up classes to models to allow them to do their own. From here they offered a class through a voucher company and the demand was phenomenal and they quickly realised the market was awash with people of all ages wanting to head along and learn how to do their own make up. Since then the brand has continued to grow and now offers a really varied set of classes and courses, the Pro Team consists of some super talented MUAs who are really passionate about what they are doing and teaching others how to create looks. We met Nikki who having worked with the likes of the one and only Cara Delevigne and Amanda Wakeley, is well placed to be talking us through how to do a couple of variations of the smokey eye. I love it when you share a passion with some one and the minute she pulled out the Tarte, Lorac and Anastasia palettes I knew we were going to get on....
I am so excited to get along to their Highlight and Contour masterclass at the start of next year, Nikkis teaching style and wealth of knowledge means surely I will be able to finally capture that Kim K cheekbones I have been attempting and failing at!
