Munro's on Great Western Road in Glasgow,is the newest Craft beer pub to hit the scene and
last night I was lucky enough to attend the official launch night. With 8 craft casks and taps on at any one time (with six rotating regularly to allow for special guest brews), and over 40 bottles to choose from- Munros is the perfect place to take the beer lover in your life.
After a £400k refurb of what was the Captains Rest, and named after a car showroom that stood on this site in the sixties- this place is looking amazing. Light and welcoming inside, the interior is a mix of up-cycled furniture, shabby chic and junk shop finds and little quirky design features such as; tyre light fixtures; rugs for curtains and tables made from cable drums. With the tweed touches and nods to Munros on the wall, it is just the right mix of quirky and fresh whilst still being cosy, relaxing and very inviting-just what I want from a pub!
Something I instantly fell in love with was the cask or craft taster option which allows the indecisive like me to try 3 different beers ( a third of a pint each) for £3.50 which I think is really reasonable for the quality you are getting. On top of the huge variety on offer they also have a fab menu - perfect for lining the stomach if you are planning on trying a fair few beers! From sharing platters to pizzas and beer bites starting from only £3, there is something for everyone here and at a really good price. At the launch we tried out the beer bites ( a fair few if I remember correctly!) and they were delish!
The launch party was so much fun, it was the perfect location for catching up with friends and I can't wait to head back again soon. You can get to Munro's easily from St Georges Cross subway, check out more details on their site, their facebook or they are even on twitter (@munrosglasgow) if you fancy keeping up to date.
Thanks to all the lovely staff for making it such a great event and the gorgeous Dada ladies for having us along- I entirely blame this monster hangover on you guys :)
