Get a dancer's body with The Scottish Ballet's free downloads

Ok so maybe my exercise to cake ratio means no matter how many times I do these videos I am not going to have the body of a ballerina but these free downloads are a fab new way to exercise and I had to share them with you. The Scottish Ballet have released 2 exercise videos- Core De Ballet and Port De Bras which enables you to try ballet at home under the expert guidance of Gyrotonic instructor Kate Menzies and dancers from the company. The videos provide an introduction to ballet exercises intended to stretch and tone the upper body and then on to more complex moves designed to tone the whole body.



I cannot wait to try the videos out, in the past year I have become really interested in taking care of myself and improving my fitness levels and these are an incredible resource that gives me a totally new way to work out. They are very well shot and are clear and easy to follow and I love how completely different they are to the at home workouts I have tried in the past.


Last night I was lucky enough to go along to watch the launch of the Scottish Ballet's autumn 2012 season, a sensational triple bill that has further inspired me to get moving more and try their videos out.The sheer athleticism of these dancers bodies is just insane and excellently demonstrated in the first of their three works in their autumn season line up- Run for It- A beautiful piece choreographed by Martin Lawrence. This is followed by Work Within Work an incredibly physical piece with a beautiful simplistic set and costumes which allows  you to really focus on the movement and shape the dancers make.  To finish the audience is treated by the pulsating heartbeat and passion of 5 Tangos which is truly mesmerising to watch alongside enjoying the absolutely stunning score.




I was introduced to the magic of the Scottish Ballet through blogging and I am so thankful as every performance I have seen will stay with me, I can't help but be utterly swept away with their work and it always makes for an incredible night out.

  1. Wow! Thanks for sharing these videos! I started doing exercises on portable ballet barres one year ago. I have bought my bar and I do it at home, never lessons. But maybe these videos could help me a little bit :)
